Almost everyone has the same first question about lab-grown diamonds: Are they real?
The simple answer is, of course, yes. They're real diamonds. The difference is in how they're created.
The lab-grown diamonds in our Eco-Love Collection are created in much the same way that any mined diamonds would be, with precise laboratory conditions that replicate the same processes that occur in nature to form diamonds over huge spans of time.
They are composed of the same chemicals as mined diamonds and indistinguishable without using specialized equipment. Just as those that are mined, every lab-grown diamond forms in a way that makes it unique, with its own characteristic clarity, cut, and color.
They are evaluated and certified in exactly the same way any other diamond would be, to the same standards.
All that means that with the Eco-Love Collection, you can not only have a certified, graded diamond for less, but you can be secure in the knowledge that it was created sustainably. Since they don't necessitate mining, lab-grown diamonds have a significantly lower impact on the environment, and prevent potential injuries to miners.
That doesn't mean that natural diamonds are necessarily unethical; significant steps have been taken to find more responsible methods of mining, and the vast majority of mined diamonds are now conflict-free as well. However, there is nothing more or less genuine about the end product of a lab-grown or mined diamond, and you may find that a lab-grown gem better suits your personal ideology.

CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAB-GROWN AND MINED DIAMONDS?
To the naked eye, lab-grown and mined diamonds are completely indistinguishable. Because they are real diamonds, lab-grown gems will pass typical diamond testing that is based on their thermal and conductive properties. In every meaningful sense, they are the same. However, there are possible details thay may be used to identify them. Some diamonds have an inscription that can be found with a magnifying glass, which will either identify them as lab-grown or mined in the inscription itself or refer to a lab report number. Lab reports contain extensive information about gems, including whether they were lab-grown or mined. If the diamond lacks an inscription, you would need to take it to a gemological laboratory to identify its origins.
ARE LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS VALUABLE?
As their respective prices make clear, lab-grown diamonds aren't as valuable as their mined counterparts. However, no diamond should typically be considered a strong investment - generally, they depreciate in value once they are purchased. Instead, a diamond of any type should be viewed as an investment in happiness, love, and the significance it was chosen to represent. Your choice of a diamond should always be based on what its value is to you, not on any potential financial return.

As they are graded according to the same standards by the same organizations, lab-grown diamonds achieve the same aesthetic ideals as mined diamonds. They will retain the same clarity as a comparably graded mined diamond, sparkle just as brilliantly, and offer the same quality of cut and size.
WHAT ARE SOME OTHER TERMS FOR A LAB-GROWN DIAMOND?
Lab-grown diamonds can be known by many names. Among them are lab-made, man-made, lab-created, synthetic, and cultured diamonds. They all describe the same end result - a real diamond sustainably made by a highly controlled process in a laboratory setting. If you still find yourself confused, a jeweler should be able to help confirm the origin of a diamond you are considering.
SO LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS AREN'T FAKE?
No, lab grown diamonds are definitely not fake. They are identical to mined diamonds because they are real diamonds. Even lookalike gems such as cubic zirconia or topaz, while wonderful choices on their own merits, do not have the same durability or sparkle as a diamond. Whether mined or lab-grown, if you're looking for a diamond, there is no true substitute for the genuine article.
